I think my main financial concern is, not really anything present but in the future when i can no longer work. I want to be sure that I am going to be about to support myself when this time comes and not have to rely on anyone.

For securing once's future one should have some stable assets with them like property. They can use some part of it and can rent it to get some money to run there house hold needs.

In case of emergency you can sell your house and than rent it back. So buy some property for securing your future and your partner's future.
