Default Buy in Spain or France?

Looking to buy a second home in Spain or France and am interested in any one elses stories. We have a budget of about £120K and ideally we'd like to rent it out 75 % of the year. The other 25% of the year would be for ourselves and family etc.

We just can't decide on Spain or France. We've been to both and love both equally. I would be more for France (somewhere near Bordeaux) as I've heard that the value of homes has dropped there as the wine industry has taken a dip. Possibly we could get more for our money?

Any other suggestions would be great!

It depends on what you are into

If I was going to buy I'd probably buy in Spain, but somewhere off the beaten track

Blacknight is right. I think you've got to jot down your criteria. IE would rental income be the decider. How many points would you give to the size of the property and the location. Would the number of other tourists in the area affect your decision? It all matters.

Actually, there's a post here you may be interested in if you're buying in Spain and it gives a break down of different areas in Spain across a number of criteria.

If I can find one on France, I'll add the link.

I would personally go for France, but that is just me. If you want to rent it out for part of the year, then you want to look for a place where you are going to find people who are going to rent for only part of the year. There is a place I used to live with a bunch of condos and people would rent them out most of the year, it was a tourist area. So I would expect you would want a nice tourist area, plus look at how much you can make for renting it out. Pretty much it is up to you and what you want out of your purchase. Good luck.

France seems to me to be have a more stable market than spain. Also look for buyers market were home prices are going down. Buy now that prices are falling this is a buyers opportunity market!
