Default What are Welfare benefits?

The welfare benefits are payments which are given by the UK government. These benefits go to certain people who are considered to be low incomes or have specific needs.

Welfare benefits are definitely a good thing, if you are struggling to support yourself. Though I don't live in the UK, I live in the US and I am actually going to the state to apply for benefits such as medical help and food stamps for the time being until I can get to where I am able to help myself. What qualifies you for benefits in the UK?

That is nice that you have a system in place as well where you are. Sometimes people need the help and sometimes people just use what they can get even if they really do not need it.

Thats what irritates me about people who cheat the system to get on welfare or social security. I know people who do this and it makes me sick to my stomach. I know what it is like to need help, and these people are lazy and don't want to work so they go try to get on social security for the stupidest reasons. I know a guy who is on social security because he says he cannot work because he cannot read or write, but he has told me before that he has had jobs, so, if he could work then why can't he now? He didn't go to bed one day able to read and write, and then wake up the next illiterate...Ok rant over :P

Yes it is great that the systems we have and the UK has as well over there are in place to help people who need the help. Not everyone can afford to buy groceries to feed their family, or pay for outragous medical costs, but at least they know there is an option they can turn to.

Thumbs up welfare benefits

welfare benefits can be any like Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support, Tax Credits, Child Benefit, Incapacity Benefit, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Social Fund, Health Service Benefits, Maternity Benefits, Widows Benefits, Retirement Pension and Pension Credit, Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance, Carer’s Allowance, Industrial Injuries Benefits, etc. and yes definitely it is for the betterment of the public. but public should not take undue advantage of this facility, as it is meant for the needy and not for the greedy.
